Filofax dividers Poll: Results!

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post and held a poll to ask you all what sort of dividers you use in your Filofax, and how many dividers/tabs/sections you use.

I was really pleased with the response to the poll, as 50 votes were placed! Thanks for answering! Here is the response:

1) What sort of dividers do you use in your Filofax?

Filofax standard dividers      24 votes
Homemade dividers             27 votes
Hand made dividers made by someone else e.g. from Etsy     0 votes
Dividers made by another planner brand       3 votes

2) How many dividers/tabs/sections do you use?

I don't use dividers or tabs        1 vote
1 divider/tab/section                  0 votes
2 dividers/tabs/sections             2 votes
3                                              2 votes
4                                              5 votes
5                                              5 votes
6                                              17 votes
7-10                                         8 votes
10-15                                       1 vote
15-20                                       2 votes
20+                                          2 votes

I also asked people to leave a comment to describe their divider/tab set up, and which divider types they use. These are worth a read on my original blog post!
Obviously, their dividers/sections reflect how they use their Filofax. Typically, several of their sections follow the 'normal' sections/uses of a Filofax- Diary, Projects, Finance etc, but then the users customise their sections or add extra sections (even added onto the standard dividers you get in a Filofax) to match their lives and their daily needs. I love how customisable Filofaxes are! Traditional-style side dividers are most common, but top-tabs are becoming very popular, especially for subsections within divider sections!

I am quite surprised at the amount of people who use the Filofax standard dividers, especially the ones with section names (rather than the 1-6 numbered dividers), as these dividers prescribe what you should use these sections for, which in my opinion goes against what a ring-bound planner is meant to be- customisable for your own life; however I wonder if you guys rename the sections? This is obviously easier with the 1-6 dividers!

I am very surprised that no-one voted for the hand made dividers made by someone else. Personally, I use a set made by someone else, which I will be talking about in my next blog post. Also, I know of a few other people who have bought hand made dividers made by other people, but I guess they didn't vote on this poll!
I think the reason there were so few people buying hand made dividers made by someone else is because dividers are so easy to make yourself! You can make them out of a range of materials, in particular scrapbooking card, which you can choose beautiful designs of, which reflect your personality or even the section contents! 27 people voted for homemade dividers, the (narrowly) most popular choice in the poll, as you can see by reading many of the Filofax blogs out there!

Looking at the 'How many dividers do you use?' section of the poll, I'm not at all surprised that the most common answer was 6 dividers/tabs/sections, because that parallels the Filofax standard dividers, at least in a personal and an A5! Only 1 person voted for the option 'I don't use dividers or tabs', and I'm not surprised that no-one voted for '1 divider/tab/section', because just 1 divider wouldn't be very useful!! A few people use a small amount of dividers, 2 or 3, which doesn't surprise me, because I only use 3! Quite a few people use between 7 and 10 dividers, and then a few people use a large amount, 10+ or even 20+, which surprises me, because I really didn't think 23mm rings could hold that many dividers (although 30mm A5/personal grand/Franklin Covey gigantic rings could!).

Filofax Dividers... A Poll!!

Hi everyone!

If there's one thing in my Filofax that I've changed more than my diary inserts, it's my dividers! I am going to do a post on them soon, but first I'd like you guys to answer my little poll!

The poll is composed of 2 parts.

1) What sort of dividers do you use in your Filofax?

2) How many dividers/tabs/sections do you use? (This includes subsections, which are perhaps subdivided using sticky tab)

Please answer both sections of the poll :)

I'd like you to answer with what is your most common or favourite answer. E.g. if you use 6 tabs most of the time, but sometimes have a couple extra, answer 6. If you mostly use your homemade dividers, but sometimes switch back to Filofax's standard ones, answer 'Homemade dividers'!

It would be great if you could also comment on this post listing which sections you have in your Filo :)

I'm really interested in what types of dividers people use, what your sections are, and how many you use! I will write a blog post soon with the poll results, and also show you my array of dividers :)

Thanks!!

Stationery Haul Wednesday 6th June!

Hi everyone!

This Wednesday I did a little bit of shopping in Liverpool City Centre, and also pick up a really exciting parcel! So technically I haven't bought everything in this stationery haul, but it still feels like a haul because there is so much reeealllyyy cool stuff in this lot!!

So I had to go to the Royal Mail delivery office to get a parcel which I had missed on the original delivery. It turns out going all the way to the delivery office, a few miles outside the city centre (but by a very easy 4 minute train journey) is an easier way to safely get your parcel, than having to wait for the lottery that is redelivery, when the post man only delivers your parcel to your house of the arranged day if he feels like it!!! After a 10 minute wait, I had my parcel in my hands! I couldn't wait, so I opened it while sitting on the platform waiting for the train.

It was the prize from Christa's blog competition! The competition was to do a blog post or a video about the set-up of your filofax, and I won!!!! :D :D
There's some amazing stuff in here!! I absolutely love the Avery tabs (can't get enough of them), the Post It super sticky notes- such a brilliant invention as they actually stick now!!, and the Get the Hint page markers- but I think my favourites are the Hello Kitty post-its (although they are so cute and I don't know where to find more of them, I kind of don't want to use them!!), and my absolute favourite is the Filofax pen!!! It's sooooo pretty!! Such a gorgeous colour! It's so sleek and beautiful!!
Thanks so much Christa!!

So after I made my way back into the city centre by return train, I went to some of my other favourite shops. Here's what I bought from them:

First I went to one of my favourites, Paperchase. I absolutely adore Paperchase, I could literally buy out their stock!! I really had to restrain myself! I had been wanting those magnetic page clips for weeks, and I finally bought them! They will go very nicely with my new dividers! I also bought some index stickers, buses and owls, as I will have lots of sub-sections in my dissertation filofaxes! And my favourite thing from there, some really practical and useful sticky notes, which are lined or squared, for lists, notes, diagrams etc for my dissertation filos. I know in North America they do quadrilled post-it notes, but 3M don't do them here, and these are the next best solution until they do, I think!!

Then I went into Rennies, which is an art/craft shop, also with a gallery/painting shop. They had some loose scrapbooking paper/card, and I had a really good look through these, changing my mind several times and putting some back and choosing some more! Finally I settled on the 3 sheets above, which were all under £1 each. I really love the Cath Kidston-esque prints at the moment, and I am going to make these into dividers for my new A5 purple Malden!! They also had packs of scrapbooking paper, but these were expensive, around £15 for a pack of about 50 sheets, with duplicates of each pattern, and I definitely won't use them all. I had a very good look around the rest of the shop, and the staff were very helpful. I have been living in Liverpool for almost 4 years on and off, and I don't know why I never thought of going in here for filofax pretties before! I had a look at their sticker collection, and I found some Blue Nose stickers that I don't already have! I love these so much, I am never going to use them, they are too cute!!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! I am going home tomorrow for a couple of weeks! :D

Au revoir!!

S&L filofax dividers!

Hi!
Today I am going to review my lovely new filofax dividers!

As soon as I saw them on Imy's flikr, I fell in love with them! I traced them back to her blog, then followed the link that send me to the facebook page, where there were loads of pictures I could drool over!

I couldn't wait until they arrived, unfortunately I accidentally delivered them to the wrong address, so it was a bit longer before I could get my hands on them, but it was well worth it!
Here they are inside my Cuban zipped daily filofax!

First divider, for my 'Organisation' section. Lovely and flowery!!
Back of the first divider, with some post-its stuck on it ready for re-use!

I REALLY love polka-dots at the moment! My uni work section
Beautiful big colourful flowers!
Third divider, doesn't have a purpose yet!
Oops, a bit lop-sided!
My 'reference' section divider!
Spotty-dotty :D
And finally, my 'notes' section, with the beautiful big rose in the middle!

S&L also make today markers/rulers! I bought a set of these too! (2 in a pack!)

These dividers and today markers are gorgeous, I'm so happy with them!
They are covered with a plastic which means they are very durable, and they are double-sided, which means you can see 2 interesting patterns per divider when you turn the page! And most importantly, they are made by two Filofax-lovers, and that's what makes them really special!
I love Cath Kidston designed things! But S&L also have other designs, including Country Garden and Retro (see S&L's facebook page to see the photos), and they make them for pocket and mini size as well as personal!!

I love my new dividers!

My new DIY dividers

Hello for the second time today!

Recently I've been using Paperchase's own version of the Filofax dividers, which are unlabelled and in pretty colours. But I wanted something more fun and personal. I've been buying some pretty card to make my own dividers, but it's all plain because I haven't been able to find any flowery card. So I when I went to town and still couldn't find some perfect card, I had an idea: postcards! No, not 'Wish you were here' types, but pretty fashionable ones! I found some really pretty ones in Clinton Cards, which were 50p each, so I bought 5 different types. They are typical postcard size, which is wide enough to be a filofax personal-sized divider, but not tall enough. However, I wasn't bothered about this, they still do their job and look lovely!

Here are some pictures of my new dividers!
This is my favourite postcard so I put it at the front! Behind it is 1 sheet of notepaper for quick notes and my rotas/timetables and diary :)
My to-do/project section divider. "Keep calm" when you see how much you have to do behind it; "carry on" should actually say "get on with it!!"
My 'me/fun' section, with fun stuff like stuff about my blog, books I want to read etc behind it. I like this card because not only is it beautiful, it reminds me that in the midst of all my crazy uni-filled days, sometimes I have to stop and smell the roses (or blossom) :)
My 'ongoing/lists/finance' section divider; no reason I have this one here, it's just pretty :) Shoooess!!! lovely!!
My reference section :) But I suppose that if I ever have a hobbies/crafts section, I could use this divider for that, because it is a nice patchwork Union Flag :)

All I did to make them was punch them with my new Rapesco punch (which I will review soon) and cut a part of the right-hand side out, leaving only the tab remaining. Easy!
